Our recommended Tattoo Aftercare Procedure, along with some extra tips for keeping your new ink looking fresh!
Tattoo Aftercare Procedure
When you get home, remove the cling wrap and gently wash the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap. Pat dry.
Apply tattoo aftercare cream sparingly (just enough to cover) and rub in completely.
Re-apply cling wrap and leave it on overnight.
In the morning, repeat steps 1 and 2.
Before bed, apply cream and cover with fresh cling wrap overnight.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for three days total.
From day 4, cling wrap is no longer needed.
Apply aftercare cream 2-3 times daily until the tattoo has healed (7-14 days).
DO NOT soak in water or swim until the tattoo has completely healed.
Extra Tips
Your new tattoo is an open wound until the scabbing process is complete, so it must be kept very clean. You can do this by keeping it out of the water, following our aftercare step-by-step process, and avoiding activities that involve dust, dirt, and getting sweaty. It’s good to time your tattoo appointment when you can look after it properly.
You should also avoid friction or excessive rubbing. This can not only irritate the tattoo but also remove the ink.
Keep your new tattoo out of the sun by covering it with clothing or using a fragrance-free, broad-spectrum sunblock. Sun exposure during the healing stage increases the risk of ink fading. The skin can burn, blister, and peel, resulting in tattoo fading.
Caring for Your Healed Tattoo
Once your tattoo has healed, it is important to keep the skin moisturized and protected with a broad-spectrum 30+ sunblock to avoid ongoing fading.
If you experience excessive ink loss during the tattoo healing process, we may need to touch up the tattoo and consult about further aftercare procedures.
